Let's MEET : an enriching cultural experience !

Monday, 31 August 2020

Through the MEET-More Equal Europe Together project which aims to prevent gender-based Islamophobia in Europe, POUR LA SOLIDARITÉ-PLS organized an interactive guided tour in the municipality of Saint-Gilles, Region of Brussels-Capital on Thursday 27 of August 2020. Summary of the tour whose main objective was to promote cohesion in a society as diverse as Brussels!

With about ten people from all walks of life, this cultural activity was an opportunity to wander around the city, to meet the municipality of Saint-Gilles and its diversity. Combining curiosity, sharing and encounter, Let's MEET aspires to overcome biases that may exist between local Muslim and non-Muslim communities in order to promote social cohesion.

Gender-based Islamophobia

Faced with the observation of Islamophobic acts more specifically directed towards women and girls, PLS is involved alongside the people concerned to make their voices heard. PLS has chosen to make a long-term commitment to this promotional work through the European project MEET, which denounces the phenomenon of gender-based Islamophobia. Some members of the Thinking and action committee against sexist Islamophobia (CRACIS, according to its French acronym) participated in the event.

Let's MEET, and together let's take action against Islamophobia towards Muslim girls and women!
